    More than 1,000 procedures (of all types of severity) have been carried out, from the whole range of Thoracic Surgery.

    Amongst them:
    • Pulmonary Resections for lung cancer or other tumours (or ”tumors,” either malignant or benign ones) & for intrapulmonary lesions:
      • Pneumonectomies
      • Bi– ] Lobectomies
      • Wedge Resections
    • Chest Wall procedures
    • Mediastinal procedures (to the anatomical region called “Mediastinum”)

      • Valuable, long and deep experience acquired as Head or Director of the Thoracic Surgery Dept. of “The 424 TMGH” for 21 consecutive years approximately (from 08 Sep 1999 until 11 March 2020)
      • Also served as a specialist or Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the military hospitals “417 NIMTS” Veterans' hospital & “424 TMGH.”
      • Valuable experience acquired from my formal membership of the “Oncology Committee” of “The 424 TMGH,” appointed by the hospital's CO on 08 May 2006
    • ii. Prior to completing the Specialist-Training:
      A full period of a 7-year in-practice clinical training.

      During three years (out of the 7 yrs in total) I was a specialist-trainee in Large hospitals of the United Kingdom that were all accredited for specialist-training by the SAC (Specialist Advisory Committee, UK): The Royal Brompton hospital in London, the Hairmyres hospital in the West of Scotland and the Royal Victoria hospital in Belfast.

      The experience acquired in them can be considered as valuable especially in the following:

    • vii. Other trainer's activities (in Greece and abroad):
      1. I contributed to the Medical Education Programme within the Regional Thoracic Surgical Unit of the West of Scotland, located inside the “Hairmyres” hospital since Feb 1995 till Aug 1996 by training the specialist–trainees (SHOs and the junior doctors) in Thoracic Surgery. I also presented research papers at National (UK) and International Meetings on that Regional Unit's work on: the surgical treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma and the long-term results with broncho-alveolar adenocarcinoma
      2. Under-graduate training of medical students (of the Athens University School of Medicine), who were allocated at the 2nd Teaching Dept. of Surgery inside the “Laikon” hospital in Athens, Greece (1992–1994)
      3. The 424 TMGH is by definition a hospital that puts a great deal of Emphasis in ‘Teaching’ or ‘Training’ (after all, the initials TMGH of the hospital stand for: Teaching Military General Hospital). Teaching / Training involves all personnel including nursing staff, other health workers and, of course, doctors, who are specialist-trainees, too. The acquisition of Experience as a trainer in this specific hospital can, therefore, be appropriately appreciated.
      4. Duties of “S3 – Director of Training” of a Medical Corps Battalion located in the borderland of Greek Sovereign territory for 1½ year (Oct 1989 - Feb 1991). By exerting these duties I was responsible for training Private-ranked soldiers into the military speciality of “stretcher-bearers.” Also fully responsible for any kind of Training of All military personnel of the Battalion.
