    My name is
    Ioannis C. Papachristos.

    I'm the former Head of the Thoracic Surgery Department at the 424 Military Hospital in Greece. It’s a position that I held for 21 years (from 1999 until 2020) as a thoracic surgeon.

    Early years lived in a hometown lying under
    Meteora (picturesque rocky complex of monoliths with monumental post-Byzantine monasteries built on top): Kalampaka.

    Medicine studied in Aristotle University, in Thessaloniki (Armed Forces joined in 1982). Specialist-training initially in Athens, Greece, then in the UK: London (South Ken.), Glasgow and Belfast.

    Return to Greece in 1997. Ex
    Regent of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons for Greece (2005-2010). Interest in bioethics, medical ethics and medical documentation. More details about the scientific medical work can be browsed on this link.

    I spent 38 years in the Hellenic Army Medical Corps, from which I retired in 2020.

    Inspiration for writing was provided by career milestones and other events in a diversity of geographical locations and cities in the UK, Greece, USA, France and elsewhere.

    The first three books were written and published in 2016: two in Greek and one in English. In 2017 the English book ‘ 
    The Right To The Truth ’ ςασ πθβλισηεδ; the book is all about and for the patients' right to be aware of their own cancer diagnosis, sometimes violated in some parts of the world.
